"Return of the Vinetropes will take you on a magical journey that blends old and new. In this tale where science is intertwined with magic, young readers are lead to use their imaginations to consider their place in the world and the impact of their choices. This remarkable story is punctuated with artwork of the highest quality - a visual feast for readers that brings the many lovable characters to life. This perfect blending of visual elements with the written word is an extraordinary exemplar of the arts joining forces to create powerful storytelling." --- Amanda Theis, Co-President of the Washington Art Education Association WAEA
"This story proves that even the smallest person, be it a 12-year-old girl or a diminutive vinetrope, can still be part of an epic and great adventure." ---Kate Holloway, Librarian, Bozeman Public Library, Gallatin County, Montana
"For the young fantasy lover the characters that Ms. Ross introduces in, The Vinetrope Advenetures: Return of the Vinetrope, promise new worlds to become lost in." --- Nora Martin, Librarian, Monforton School Library
"The first of Sherry Ross’s VINETROPE ADVENTURES trilogy, RETURN OF THE VINETROPES, introduces Lucinda Vinetrope, a tiny, enchanting fairy-like heroine who glows, rhymes, and carries the history of her people, a people called vinetropes, who have seemingly vanished from the planet. When Lucinda is gloriously born from a mysterious plant in 12-year-old Sara’s garden, friendship blossoms as well as wise and witty conversations between humans, squirrels, owls, and many other awakened creatures. The value of dreams, purpose, rational goals, creative thinking, practical plans, friendship and communication with all sorts of “other sentient creatures,” are cleverly entwined into a story that will remain with children (and parents) for a lifetime. The colorful dramatization of events and the sheer beauty of writing style along with Lucinda’s spontaneous poems are enough to make one linger in the world of the vinetropes from dawn until dusk. And if that is not enough, between the covers of this elegantly bound book, are Julie Bell's extraordinary illustrations. I can think of no better reading experience for children ages 10-13 than entry into this fantastical land of lore that teaches subtly while entertaining mightily."

"My 13-year-old daughter and I took turns with this wonderful, new story. As soon as she saw the cover, she announced that she was going to read it first. It didn't disappoint. The world building and character development are both original and fascinating. The idea of plant people, vinetropes, who can heal the world, allow animals and other species (including humans) to communicate, as well as a myriad of other wonders is awesome. And personally, I fell in love the squirrel brothers! My daughter's favorite thing about the book was the gorgeous illustrations. They add another layer to the experience.
Despite its length, I recommend this book for all middle school and high school students. It is a wonderful beginning to an exciting new series! I look forward to book 2."
